Hi a plumber has recently installed a DD125 MEGAFLOW hot water cylinder into my 4th floor flat, however it was not possible to connect the safety outlet to the outside due to the original one not having this (Gledhill). At the moment i have put a bucket under it. How much of a problem is this? i understand the safety valve is to relieve the pressure on the input?.

He says he is certified to install unvented. it was covered in level 3 of the Gas Certification apparantly? He is going to install a tundish and connect it to the bathroom soil pipe next tuesday. i'm away for the weekend so will be turning off the cylinder and feed tap while i go away so i can sleep!!
I've been checking the bucket every day and its bone dry, although yes you can never predict a failure i suppose. Anyway by next tuesday should be sorted.

Thanks for your advice.

Kean

god this is bad,
so you have had to phone him up and ask him to come back to the job to finish what he thought he had finished and upon arrival have to explain and run through what he has to do in order to actually finish the job off.
i feel sorry that you have been treated like this.
bad thing is that by coming on the forum and asking a couple of questions you probably know more than him about unvented cylinders

unbelievable

I agree with plumber 0808 to be fair i'm sure the plumber will feel like a small child getting told off when he returns - don't forget to put him on the naughty step for for 43 years - print these feeds and make sure he does it properly

they are cowboys who care little for peoples property or their safety. I went to one the other week no temp or pressure relief fitted, or flow and returns and the guy had taken the 2 port valve with him, which I needed as it was on a y plan. The pipe run was 6 meters through the eaves of the house in a tight space real pig of a job, plus the two port valves which I fitted and converted to s plan, immersion heater cable was on twin and earth so changed that comissioned it properly and gave the guys a bill for £450 and a quote for a further £300 to sort the spagetti of hep in the eaves. He paid the guy £1200 for that lot cylinder was an Albion 210 so about £600 ish.
