They're very good yes. Fitted them for a few customers and they love em.

Thing to bear in mind is that stat needs a power socket nearby so plan you position

The nest can get its power supply using the existing thermostat cable if its going back in the same place. The thermostat cable just has to be connected to terminal T1 and T2 in the heat link which provides a 12V supply. Even though the thermostat is connected to the heat link by the cable the communication is done wirelessly.

Sorry I had in mind that previous stat was RF

But depending on what system op has it might require a gas safe engy as it will require opening the boiler up

Not sure what you mean sorry just reading about it on the nest website it just said it replaces your existing stat

I maybe wrong but

You have the base/ main unit, tells the boiler when to come on and supply's power to the remote display (12v)

They you have your wall desplay / stat which required power from the base

If requires rewiring at boiler end then gsr engineer will be required

Combi boiler Defo

Heat only and cylinder you won't, but you will require some understanding of how the system works and a multi meter and tools so best to get one if your unsure

I have a two zone heating and hot water system and a ideal logic system boiler

Just checking go for the two zone nest / heating and hot water, you would be surprised how many think one kit does both

no not necessarily...It would depend how its wired. For example most new builds the 3core and earth from the thermostat is taken to the switched fused spur next to the boiler. From the switched fused spur a 5 core flex is taken to the boiler and connected to load side of switched fused spur and connected to the thermostat wiring in the back box.

If this was the case the 5core flex would just have to be taken through the heat link and connected to the appropriate terminals. No need to remove the case in this instance.

So what happens with the internal timer and weather comp in your theory ??

still requires some elec/ system knowledge
