New flat hot water question... surely they aren't that cheap?!

Hi everyone,

Hopefully someone out there can help me with a quick question.

I've just moved into a fairly new build flat and I can't work out at all how to (if even possible) get my boiler to heat water without having to switch it on manually 20 minutes or so every time I want hot water. It doesn't seem connected to the confusing timer panel, which I can only work out so far is linked to the electric radiators and not the boiler...

I don't know.

Hopefully, looking at these pictures, someone out there will be able to work out how it is set up and if there is any way I'm expected to heat water without either flicking the two right hand switches on (top and bottom right) beforehand or leaving them on all day which surely would be expensive?!

Oooh, Economy 7... something else I'm off Google and find out more about.

Ok, read up. Have no idea if I have Economy 7. Will find out from the agency.

There is no other timer than the one in the pic, which as you say, is for the heating only (which yes, is electric). What kind of new flat would install a heating system with no timer for the hot water?!! I find that really strange.

As I have stressed, if you leave this on all the time, and there is no off peak tarrif in place, you will get very large electricity bills.

This is true, but no where to be seen. I've asked the agency and they said speak to the concierge... who I'll ask when I get home.

I think you will find its not the concierges problem but as i have said for the last time ask a neighbour or the owners and regarding what the agency said i would tell them to **** off and sort it out or else you aint paying the rent end of story

Don't really like the neighbours as they keep waking me up with their headboard hitting the wall in the middle of the night when at it... No really.

I will try the agency again, I don't have the owners contact.

go and look at your electricity meter, it will show if its economy 7 or an equivalent, also you will have 2 consumer units/fuseboards if you have economy seven or you could use abit of common sense and ring your electricity supplier and ask them, if you dont have it thens the time to ask them for it!

what have you only one neighbour in a block of flats now that is weird ,dont ask the agency tell them your the muppet paying them hundreds of pounds a month for living in a flat that you dont know how to control your hot water

I'm not looking for advice on how to handle agencies or owners, but thanks anyway...

Just wondered if someone with experience in heating could make sense of the pictures I put up. Which seems to have happened. I'd prefer to ask professionals than people next door who might be doing all wrong themselves. I only moved in last week and kept the switches off most of the time so I'm sure I won't need get a loan yet.
