Hi.
I have a sealed system with 3 2way valves for HW, upstairs CH and downstairs CH.
The ABV whistled when downstairs heating was on. Plumber by chance twiddled with ABV which stopped the whistle.
Now ABV and noise around that loop is incredible noisy, can be heard throughout the whole house when all valves are shut. Audible even when sat watching TV!
Plumber changed ABV but noise same if not slightly worse.
Any help please?
Thanks

They are noisy by design... It's just a spring loaded valve that opens against restriction... I have for Honeywell ones that were not that noisy once set up correctly. I normally set them up so they open when all 2 ports close just as a flow for the boiler pump overrun... If you have a bypass radiator you should not need the bypass to be opening with other trv's etc... I would say have a play round with it but remenner where the plumber left it as a reference!

Thanks. Will try swapping ABV for a different make. The noise is overwhelming. Looking at Honeywell or Myson?

Both are good makes, I would prefer the Honeywell... What makes is your one? Also check the bypass route is of adequate length etc & that it's piped up well to reduce the chance of more noise being created. Otherwise post up a pic & we can take a look

Thanks for your reply. I think I have a Salus ABV.

I've attached a picture although for some reason it's attached upside down!
