Noisy Drop valve

Last week had a call customer needed a new donut washer fitted to the wc, whilst there also required inlet valve fitted a nice fluidmaster also fitted a new push button drop valve. Job done customer rang to thank me but informed the wc was noisey. So I thought the inner tube/over flow was hitting the lid, but it isnt. The noise is actually when it closes, and you get a great thump.

Has anyone else had this problem, you can hardly hear it when the lid is off, and dont know how to resolve it

allways thougth these valves closed with a thud, well the ones i have worked on anyhow.
its not slapping the cistern is it?.
try turning the ball vave down a bit?.

Would a dollop of plumbers grease soften the thud do you think?

depends on how hard you hit him with the leadpipe.

Nearly every one i've fitted, cleaned or repaired has closed with a thud.

The most recent one (Dudly Pinto) seemed to be quieter than most.
