have you had the burner off these are known for insulation falling on burner . the turrrt can block as well try pouring hot water down inner flue but be carefull.
 
Yes, had the burner off. Insulation fine. And poured hot water down the flue. Must be careful of?

Absolutely correct. It is now compulsory to look inside on each service now, if you weren't already.
 
Your customer should think themselves lucky that p.o.s is working at all! Let alone noisey.

Flue was made of three parts.

Turns out middle was a different flue entirely and there was no seal between two sections of the exhaust.
 
Gas valve sorted the noise.

Flue needed replacing as there was a joint in the wall. Was worse than I thought on pulling it out.
 
And when it goes wrong again in six months time, they'll wish they would have had a new boiler.

When it goes wrong in 6 weeks time, they will wish they fitted new boiler!:smiley2:
