Noisy tap

I recently had wall mounted taps & spout installed in a bathroom.
Initially they were installed incorrectly (too deep in wall so taps heads didnt fit properly), but when operated by turning the spindles, the worked silently.
When the installer refitted them correctly, I now get quite a loud noise from the cold tap.
It's hard to describe, but its a sort of increasing 'whooshing' sound or a sound like air being sucked through an orifice.
At slow flow, it is silent, but as the flow increases through the mid range the noise gets progressively louder, before stopping again at full flow.
My suspicion is there could be a leak, or an unsealed joint, which when the tap is turned on, as the volume of moving water increases it reaches a velocity high enough to draw air in through the 'leak' before sealing itself again as the volume of water increases enough to close off any opening.
Is this a likely explanation? Any other suggestions?
I am reluctant to use the facility as if it does leak, it is behind the new tiling on the wall and cant be seen.

Does not sound like a leak, get tap cartridge removed and checked, could be a bit of debre in there or faulty disc
imho
