bigboy

hello 2 everyone,

needed some advice please, if u miss the deadline for registering for nvq 6089 which is the end of march, can u register for nvq 6024 instead.

could u also please inform me if there is any required qualifications required to either in relation to level 2 or 3 for either nvqs 6089 0r 6024.

thankyou in advance

who is offering the 6024, never heard of a centre offering it, only the 6089 which will cease to be at the end of this month

thank u for the reply, saw the 6024 on the city and guilds website and found no one offering it within 50 miles of me. the reason i asked is because ive been working for the last two years on and off with a qualified plumber, have completed my level 2 6129, currently studying for level 3 6129. but havent registerd for nvq 6089, now i think ive missed the deadline for level 2 nvq 6089 and level 3 6089. wont finish my level 3 6129 until 1st week of april. so i checked the website and found nvq 6024 seemed relevant and quite similar to 6089, so was hoping to do that instead of 6089.

ps. can i register for 6089 level 2 or 3, before completing my level 3 6129, having only completed my 6129 level 2 .

thank you in advance

you can register on 6089 before completeing 6129 no problem but get your skates on

if you find anything out about the 6024 let me know, it may be the 6089 rebadged to be sold abroad as a qual and therefore not available here?

thanks for the reply,

ill ring up my college on monday and start the ball rolling so to speak, cheers for the info was a bit confused cos my college said they would only register me once id completed level 3 6129, just to clarify can i register for 6089 level 2 and 3.

ps. will find out about nvq 6024 and update this info on this page when i find out , probably tomorrow.

thanks again for your feedback

i look forward to your reply mate

yes you can regiser for the 6089 before completing the 6129 but many colleges wont. if you fail the 6129 you will also fail the 6089 aand therefore the cente will show 2 failures not 1, its not good practice to sign people up on courses without having the previous qual completed. i undersand their view, makes sense really, why would any of us take on an additional risk if we dont have too?

let me know what you find out

CHEERS,

hope the college will let me as the deadline is at the end of the month, and i dont know how the new system would affect me,

thanks

just to let people know,

went to college today they said they would not register me for 6089 level2 and as a result level 3 6089, until i completed my level 3 6129. so i definately have to finish my qualifications with the new 6189.

does anybody know how this would affect me, if so please let me know, much appreciated,

ps will update on 6024 tomorrow as have been at college all day and no reply from city and guilds as yet

thankyou in advance if anyone does know how the new qual will affect me and posts

cheers

you can sign up for as many as you want, whether you can ahcieve is something different. you cannot get a l3 without doing the l2 units

I have also Just signed up for the 6089 lvl 2 nvq, have completed my 6129 Tech cert lvl2 and now currently doing the tech cert lvl3.
I am not sure of what the code is for the new Plumbing diploma that is replacing the 6129 but we have been told at our college that all you work from your tech cert can be cross referenced with the new Plumbing diploma. So no worry's you will be able to use your current work if you don't make the deadline.
