If you weren't plumbing for a job what would you be doing for a job or like to do and why?

I would love to be a surgeon.

I find it fascinating that you can treat then human body like a cars engine or a boiler for that matter, you just open it up. Do a bit of work then put it back together and hey presto

It's not like a fantasy of mine so don't get worried that I'm going to do a Jack the Ripper on it.

Just if I had the brains for it, that's what I'd be doing!!

I'd probably buy a sheep and take it up a hill for some quality time and when i got fed up of the sight of it butcher it and eat it then buy another

I wouldn't want to eat any of that after you've spent "quality time with it "

It would have your love stink all over it

Try a bit home surgery. Start with stitches then cut off anything that doesn't look right

I wouldn't think twice about stitching a wound. Seen it done with dental floss. You just need a small enough needle you can curve

How no? You could try out your home surgeon skills on it while the fire is getting up to temp

Nice to hear someone saying if they had the brains for it on here as a lot seem to think they are worty surgeons money with a labourers brain !

There isn't a man or woman here with a brain. .....well maybe ray Stafford. Everyone else was stupid for choosing this career

You don't need brains to make money. Totally different skill set as you know.

we have 3 docs in family ! All quacks !
They are just like any other ask 20 of them you will get 20 different answers ?
When I was a kid I came off my bike and split face open was put on kitchen table with about 10 docs they more or less voted as to whether to stitch or butterfly ?

Lucky you to get at least a discussion. Between the ages of about 11 -14 i must have had over 100 stiches in various wounds. At one time it just seemed one had healed up and i was getting another. I was either unlucky or a bit thick and kept doing stupid things but none the less there came a time where it seemed a unilateral (by my mother) decision after the "not again" and obligatory slap on the head, the passing remark to the doc of "just stitch him up"

ive just bought a 18ft commercial fishing boat with the licence, ill do it in the evenings / weekends and then see how it goes, if i wasnt a plumber , id definatley be a fisherman!

I like to pretend that I am in the merchant business because of this quote from Mark Twain:

"When everyone is looking for gold, it's a good time to be in the pick and shovel business"

It's not true of course, I drifted into it by accident, like most people do. Who has a clue in their teens or early 20's what life may be able to offer?

Having said that, I wouldn't rush to change it. I would end up doing something in business. I did a lot of computer programming when I was younger, but not sure that I would want to do that for a living. The creativity has mostly gone from that field anyway.

I'd do exactly the same CXR100. My Father was a fisherman but he wouldn't let me do it when I left school. Once its in the blood its there forever. It's only all the bureaucratic nonsense involved with fishing that stops me buying a licensed trawler.

im going down the "linecaught" bass idea at the moment (longline and trawling lures) ! but will also put a gillnet down , any discards from the net can go to use as lobster pot/whelk pot bait , ill fish around 30 pots! thats the plan anyway! trying to run it as sustainable as i can!! is that dell quay fisher in the photo yours???
