Why 2 in parallel? thnk youd just have to reduce down to 28mm for a 28mm valve then back up. we did a refurbishment 2 years ago now where the house had 31 rads and 2 heating zones with two boilers (upstairs/downstairs) the downstairs zone was the largest with long runs and the first part from the boiler to the first rad was in 35mm but we didnt need a zone valve as was all just one zone with the pump and boiler, the upstairs zone had two zone valves for the cylinder and htg zone valve being a 28mm one.

If making your own header out of 2inch copper, is there any were you can get the dimensions from for the distance between the flow and return connections etc.? Has anyone got any eperience of making there own header to install.

100mm centres is min and 650mm centres from bottom flow to first return. Also offset them.

Thanks so its 650mm centres from bottom flow to first return and then 100mm centres between each connection to the header?

Can anyone confirm the min. required distance between the bottom flow and first/top return connection to a low loss header ?

if installing a header horizontal, does it not matter wich side of the header is the flow or return? Like if installed verticaly were the primary flow from the boiler needs to go to the top of the header.

No it does not matter so long as all the flows are up one end & returns are at the other. If you have an external expansion to install I would have a tapping in the middle. Just remember in the horizontal an dirt / sludge in the system could end up laying at the bottom of the header, you will need drain offs on the pipework.
