hi guys anyone come across these boilers before are they open flue as was unable to examine ther terminal as its one the ridge but looked at one for someone at work in a cupboard and very concerned as there is no ventilation .they want it replace but in the meantime want to advise them best solution for moment
the flue seems to be single wall with fire cement at the base where it meets boiler..thks

I believe this IS an open flued boiler. It wont pull its air from a ridge terminal.

There is a small chance it might be a vertex flue where it takes air for combustion from loft space. A quick pop into loft will tell you this.

In all fairness I dont see why it matters as you are replacing the boiler and your not goping to put an open flue back in.

it really was just curiosity and a learning curve def not a vertex flue as i checked in loft..i was more concerned that she had ignored the orig notice issued and was still using it ,,planning to get a experienced engineer there this week
problem these days is actually finding open flue boilers all i see are room sealed fan assisted
the cupboard has no vents either for cooling or combustion

another example of how it still don't work
your acting as a gas safe plumber.then your advising the client .
the gas safe notice did not work at all.
where the original gas safe plumber gone.
and to top it you left the house knowing this , do i smell gas?

is this the same post/ job a week ago?

Get those warning notices signed and dated, especially where faults on open flue appliances are concerned.
You'll thank yourself for it if the s**t hits the fan.

am not acting as anything
she has a boiler that was condemned but has lost the notice
a gas safe engineer has looked at job and given quote
i have looked at job and asked what is best advice and am taking a gas safe engineer this week
and as not gas safe i have no power to do anything at that house .had i been a gas safe engineer i would have capped off the appliance
my suspicion is its open flue with single wall flue with a roof terminating ridge
i came on here asking for confirmation of my suspicions not a lecture and tbh as a trainee i am probably more aware of the rules than most actual engineers as gas regs and rules are a very prominent part of the course
