Anyone know of a quiet wired digital room stat? I recommended a Honeywell DT90 but customer researched and reckons it's reported to be noisy when switching.

Some people need to get off the Internet occasionally. If she's gonna get funny about the noise a room stat makes, imagine how much of a pain in the but she's gonna be about everything else!

I agree with every post, never heard of a noisy room stat lol
And I thought I got all the nutters. Lol

if they have sensitive hearing you will have to find one that doesn't use a relay for switching...look at delta dore, not sure if they have relay or not

Nah - just mess with their head.

When you are in the house, just stand there, staring into space with your head slightly to one side. Say "can you hear a high pitched whining noise?".

Then when they listen, say "no, its gone". But every little while, pretend you can hear it again.

I bet you can get them to "hear" it. :)

Don't fit the DT90 utter carp, had to change one for this very issue, stud wall fitted in hallway in a bungalow backed onto bedroom, installed with new WB Ri boiler upgraded controls, the relay came on and off in the night noisy as hell, swapped for a second one just as bad, ripped it out for a good old Honeywell dial room stat.

Because they are battery powered when the bungalow fell below the set point, it activated the relay, which then activates the built anticipator circuit via PCB which warms the stat up as remember air is a poor conductor of heat, which then after a period turned off the stat, then the cycle would start again after an hour all night!

Haha It wouldn't be so bad but it's a bloke!

Spoilt you lot , good old mechanical timers - Lovely clunk .

( with some one that fussy , better not let the pipes get too hot or they will hear other noises you get blame for ! )

Stat on an external wall sounds a good idea for weather compensation and sound ? ( Just Aggro to wire up )

when remote control tellies first came in i had two aunts who were a bit mutton round for xmas, oh what fun i had turning the telly down till they were nearly leaning against the set to hear and then wacking it back up

Just listen to a bit more music --- therapy-- not chat shows ( R1 / R2 )

this week almost every property ive been in has had Jemery Kyle on the box, i often think they look like they should be on the show themselves LOL.
