I use laco, used to use fernox - preferred the fernox but not sure if any real difference.

I used to use the damp cloth method too but got told to cut it out because it creates tiny fractures which weakens the joint.
 
I used to use fernox as well but it just wasnt the same afrer they changed it. It was great when it was amber coloured but its like a tub of lard now

The damp cloth is to wipe the joint after it has cooled down naturally to get rid of any residue.
 
Does anyone else wipe the fitting with a flux brush just after you have soldered i.e while is still soft tends to help it run around.
