80% of homes are without proper controls on central heating systems, this document explains why they are important and why consumers should consider having them installed. its hard enough trying to get them to have the trvs they all say no i dont want to pay extra for them

Its fairly obvious how people decide whether they want controls or not. If you said £200 for a set you would probably get short shift, but say £10 and they would probably bite your hand off to get them.

They know they need them but can't afford them or don't see why they should pay out for a system that works okay without them.

The thing is its probably price not that they don't want them.

its always price, but they will pay for a solar combi assist system £6000 to£7000 from some of the less scrupless solar companies it will only take 200 years to get their money back, you have to try and educate them to the relevent savings

Tell them they are not paying "extra", it's included in the price, as Building Regulations say the controls have to be updated and TRVs ftted when a new boiler is installed.

Also point out that they will have difficulty selling the house if they cannot produce the necessary paperwork showing that the system complies with the Regulations.

People seem to understand when I explain TRV's turn the boiler off faster. And that the boiler uses more gas by far than any other gas appliance in their home.
Sometimes insufficient controls can void warranties/guarantees too so i always read manuals thouroughly.

You could also tell them it will make a significant difference to their EPC rating which they need when they sell.
