He used to be on here as something like 'Tiling Spread'.

I recognised his posts style immediately when he came back on.

Fair play to Croppie for fighting his corner. Never stop giving people the benefit of the doubt mate. That's a good trait.

I have met Supper Plumb in the flesh. He sold me something, I can't even remember what it was now, on the forum under his old username. It was a mixed bunch of stuff as he said he was quitting plumbing and going back to plastering. You could probably dig out the old thread somehow. Anyway, I thought it was leggit, I would never knowingly buy nicked tools. I gave most of it away anyway. (The benders I mentioned yesterday). Shame he's a wrong un. That's life.

Glad I backed out of having him working for me then!

I'll be honest, I also fell for the dyslexia, and never thought he was getting tools etc. by deception but what decided me not to employ him was that one day he's boasting about having fitted a ballofix, a week later he's claiming to have fitted several full bathroom suites, then a couple of weeks later claimed to have installed full heating systems. Nobody with that kind of experience posts pictures of a ballofix...

Still, I only had him as a bullsh merchant, not a thief...

Shame really...

I sent this guy two Rothy pipe slices in good faith.....no good turn goes unpunished I suppose. :veryangry2:

:sad3::sick::nonod::sad::disappointed::disappointed::disappointed:

I've got an old set of gordon grips that jamb the fingers lying somewhere I saw them the other week.
If you want punishment i'll send you them for free if you promise to post photos of your damaged fingers

i had some fittings off tiling spread as well. oh and he's gone as well (not by me though)

I'll be honest I was taken in completely. As I said before I have an old school friend driven to the brink of suicide over his dyslexia, it wasn't as easily diagnosed back then. It left me with a vulnerability where dyslexia is concerned. Consequently I got snotty and wielded a big stick.

To those of you I upset I apologise. I admit I was blinkered.

Apology not accepted John as none required.
The world is a changing place from the one we grew up in.

He would use the " I am giving up" " going back to plastering " story with the tilers forums too. He made too much of a habit of it though.

Hang on, so we don't even think he was dyslexic now?

Glad I didn't have any dealings with him/her or whoever they were.

Genuinely feel for the guys that were taken in & affected by his lies. Nobody deserves to be treated like that when all you're trying to do is help a (supposed) fellow tradesman out.

Let's be honest though, no great loss is it.

Kyle red dot just appeard on ur chest..... Now one one your head... And another.....

Didn't be claim to be on DIY SOS big build the other week? I wonder if this is true now.... or was he on set just to see what freebies were going??

Post of the day, and the best lesson to take out of a sorry situation.

Very true
sure he will be the loser in long run as people where getting used to him and would of helped him out more in long run but now we all will no better

Was he the guy who posted a pic of a compression fitting, and had used a roll of PTFE on it? Might be getting people mixed up? I'm sure he rang me looking for a job, might be mistaken

Never liked the guy, always thought he was a bit dodgy.

In one post he was a novice needing basic advice, the next he'd done full install work.

Feel sorry for anyone who sent him tools, what a waste.

Maybe we should be more discriminating about who we let in the arms

Never had much to do with him due to the way his posts were like, but if he was dyslexic like ten out of two people are in the ku,,,,,,

Yeah, that's the one...

I quite liked him on a personal level. I was going to take him on to help out on big jobs, but ended up questioning his experience just as you've pointed out above. I don't think we could have known not to let him in the arms, though, could we? He was pretty convincing, just over-inflating his experience and skills which a lot of newbies tend to do mainly because they haven't yet become aware of their limitations. I know I thought straight after college that I knew it all!

I thought he was grand to be honest just shoes what a great judge of character I am lol
