Easiest way is to buy a new gas meter on eBay. Usually about £30 - £40.

naa cost me £10 to make mine up

Think you will find thats gas theft so a no no!

what happens when they break into a line and its prob only 50 p worth anyway

classed as theft of gas, and how can you com it leaving no meter on turn on??

did one a couple of yeara ago, charged them £120 for com 2 weeks later, there problem....nice xtra earner lol

With the link you can gas rate . Meter is best option. Legal still be theft as you won't be paying fir the units run up on meter. I don't know why gas suppliers don't make a card for engineers to use in all meters when we come across this

might be that i would run mine on it ;)

Easiest way is to frequent a new build of fancy flats under the cloak of darkness and trawl the flowerbeds for external meters.
When no ones looking - have it away and cap em off !!!

Now we know what your favourite past time is !!

I'm with Redsaw on this one.

To fit a bypass or another meter is clearly a criminal offence.

Why expose yourself to this?

Surely the property owner should have been worded up at the survey stage that they would need to ensure a supply of gas?

If they then do not ensure that the supply is available by the time the install is complete then the only recourse would be to retun when it is and charge accordingly.

Why engage in illegal activity when all that is needed is sufficient planning?

I don't think theft of gas is a criminal offence. Or so the copper told me. He said its civil!!

I'm sure there's much worse criminal activity going on than hooking up a gas meter to do a soundness test and fire up a boiler FFS.

It will come back to haunt you if a problem or dispute later by- passing a meter is a offence and as previously stated you will just have to return when metered supply available and commission boiler
