One thing you can't argue about is the reliability of Apple devices - they tend to not crash & don't get a virus. I went to the big pc store at Christmas 2012 period to buy a mid priced tablet for my other half & they had sold out of the iPad mini. All the staff that came over to me, (there were several because of Christmas) told me exactly same story - buy Apple because it's the best for anti virus.
Sadly apple dont need viruses to crippke them they provide them so locked down they are practically crippled from the get go. Dont buy fruit based electronics overpriced fashion focussed tat.

I have a Google Nexus 10 and it's been brilliant...
All I do for a network connection is switch on the portable wifi hotspot on my phone and connect to that. Instant network connection :)

Check with your data plan first though that you are allowed to tether devices to it, or it may rack up charges. I am on the One Plan with '3' and it's been pretty decent...

Funny enough the latest IJT Direct catalogue came this morning, loads of cut price tablets in there including a Nexus for £116. I have got a printer from them in about 2009 and it is still going strong, have a look online. Code for extra 10% off is CAT36 from this catalogue.
