Auntie doin decorating. Can I remove rad, course i can. TRV lettin by, had to drain system. open vented. Refitted, bled system. Downstairs rads redhot, upstairs rads hot at bottom cold at top. No air or water coming out of rads, thinkin airlock. Any help gratefully appreciated

I'll run a magnet down pipe tomorrow or crack pipe. Are there any other things i can check

Plastic screw in pump, loosened it off but it wouldnt come out and I didnt want to snap it off

What was the water like when you drained it? If there's no air in the pump then try re-draining and filling slowly. Bleeding rads downstairs first.

Is the zone valve(s) open? If they closed shut water may well have drained but not being going back up again.

No water and no sound of air either. Water was black told her it may need flushing but feel bad cos it was working ok before I started

I always use my pipe freezing kit for rad valves for just this reason I've never used bungs but may have been useful in this case, could have tried back filling the system to get it working again.

It's a blockage or air lock. Try re-draining and re-filling. I take it that it's a vented system?

Was the pump running when you tried bleeding?

There is not enough water in the system. If you don't know how to find out why then, as Roger just said back fill it which basically means stick a hose on a drain valve and fill it that way.

This thread has reminded me that I back filled my father in laws system after adding a radiator a couple of years ago and still haven't got around to sorting the problem out.

When you back fill make sure the hose is held in place with a hose clip and don't just crank the tap open full, open slowly!

sounds like the pumps blocked or not pumping to me, also try the feed.

if there is half n half in the top reds then it is not filling by pumping possibly, also manual by pass the port valve lever.
whats with carl fogarty anyhow phil?.

Very common may be blocked cold feed have u tried to back fill it ?? Don't forget not to fill to much. The f&e tank will overflow. And then oh no !!
