to flush or not to flush

Well I actually did it the old skool way in the end. Drained down system, discovered blocked feed tee and re did. Flushed through, wacked some fernox f5 in for a couple od days, returned and drained and then took all rads outside and flushed with the mains. No leaks. And all rads are roasting. Some of them I had to flush for around 20minutes. Was so exciting

Why do custards want to confuse us. This client told me that the heating has started to turn off and the only way she can get it to turn back on again was to turn the hot water off. Said that when it happened the valve in cupboard would just keep clicking. So I get a cylinder stat out of the van a replace old one. Still the same. Check wiring and it is wired in wrong. Terminal 1 and 2 from cylinder stat are the wrong way round in wiring centre. Grrrr

as discussed, check the feed and venting arrangements, if it has an air separator, check this out or cut the horrible thing out and start again!. I power flush full systems and individual radiators in situ and I use two mini magnacleans attached to my flushing kit. it goes without saying that if there's no money in the job and it can't be done properly then don't bother, an ineffective heating circuit is useless and sticking a new boiler in on a dirty sludged circuit is asking for trouble!! .. also, fitting a combi without the required flow rate is a no no!
