toolstation are selling isolation valves for 80p........is this a really good bargain or a load of cheap tosh that will fail before your home from the job and in your pj's?.....

My only problem with these valves is they tend to leak from the nut and olive. It could be my technique, but I have had a few leak from the top in the last couple of weeks and I have had to nip them up really tight to stop the weeping.
You need paste & you will not have leaks, ever. Just a little smear over olive. The valve will be easier to tighten too, & as has just been said, don't over tighten them.
Copper olives are better seal, but still use paste - it costs nothing really, but a sec of time.
Use non hardening paste like V2 Jet Lube.

is there anyone who actually hasnt had a problem with screwfix bottle traps. im sure the prices are tempting to every one. couldnt you use a bit of ls-x to seal them a bit better or would that be too much messing around for the sake of 3 or 4 quid
