I have never had an issue with undersized pipe on any of the jobs I have done in 20 years , but I suspect I must be doing it wrong and if you want to be picky you could argue the point

I had a bit of a grey area job last year , listed building and needed new boiler, needed to upgrade to 22mm however without ripping up the stone floor this would not be possible , spoke to baxi (gits) who advised I could leave the 15 in providing it gas rated ok .

did they put it in writing?

i do it in 22mm always and then last 2 ft in 15mm if its 15 connection no one can moan then, wont your gas rate ect be on the benchmark mate id just wait and see what they say and have a good chat with him explain your side think your just unlucky

They will gas rate ok tho, a unica would work with 14mb of working pressure and gas rate fine..

so 15mb at meter and 16 at the boiler.
so whats the problem with 1.5 loss
why bother with what it says in the gas regs when the mi over rule them with most nrw boilers

undersized pipe imo is a boiler that doesent operate correctly on the supply that is there, so if you read the mi and the boiler is within spec then imo its ok! just gas rate it and check pressures everything should be ok,

i no worcesters can operate on 16mbar but no sure on others etc, i did a combi swop last year re connected to the 22mm that was there gas rated no problem, then discoverd that that who ever fitted the original combi just increased a 15mm gas supply behind a unit so it looked like it had 22mm supply, i uprated to 22mm but in all honesty it was ok when i rated it, i just did it for peace of mind and didnt want future engineers to think i had done that to the gas supply :)

Seen a Greenstar 28i Jr pulling a near spot on gas rate, perfect FGA and no poor H/HW performance on 13mbar at the inlet.

so how would you catorgrise that? as its not correct but is operating in with in parameters?

feel sorry for you there mate, some customers are whollops. So she has a water pressure drop you mean which is why she contacted BG, who then point out the gas pipe may be undersized? Did they say may be or is? Maybe they just seen the 2.5metres of 15mm and assumed it was undersized without even doing a working pressure test? If you tested it and it was fine and there has been no appliances installed since then its unlikely the working pressure will have changed much isnt it? She sounds like a bad person and im sure karma will do its job on her.

good one TerryWhite , it takes 2 min to gas rate the boiler , if engineer did suspect it he would have quickly gR the boiler and check wp at meter and boiler ! please do not stress your self over it !

yes I have installed loads of boilers on 15mm where the supply could not be easily changed to 22mm. As i have said i have never had one job where I got a call back due to pipe size. No doubt I have been doing it wrong all these years and 10 double decker buses are going to pull up outside my house with all the customers complaining at once.lol
