Good Morning.
I purchased a new LG refrigerator in June of 2024. I had a local plumber install a braided water line from under my sink to my new frig. From the getgo, the water has had a foul taste. I followed all the guidelines published by LG draining gallons of water at a time and even replaced the filters. Same issue. I should add that the water coming from the tap/sink where the braided line is sourced from is fine.
I just had LG repair to look at it. He pulled the braided line from the back of the frig and we tasted the water coming out of it. Same bad taste. The LG tech suggested I replace with copper tubing. I called the plumber who installed the braided line and not only did he say that he's never heard of this kind of issue from braided lines, but if he replaced with copper tubing, the same thing might happen. I'm also aware that I could use plastic or PVC, but not sure if I like the durability implications.
I should also add that the plumber had to add what I will call a "joint" under the sink to provide a way to install the braided line (picture attached).
It seems to me that there are tons of people who use braided lines with no issues. I'm wondering what opinions here might be as to what I should do. I would have to pay the plumber for his time, of course so don't want to waste money. And could the "joint" be causing the issue?
Many thanks in advance.
