We too are having trouble with water hammer. Have recently had fitted mono bloc taps...do they turn off too quickly? Also had a new shower head fitted. Could there be air in the system? Cannot detect where the noise comes from...could be in the roof. Anybody got any ideas. (husband was a plumber but now very retired)

Well John im surprised your husband couldnt help you. lol.

Dependant on how old the property/plumbing is there could be a possibility that the ball valve in the cold water tank is bouncing while filling the cylinder when the hot water is drawn off. This can be remedied by fitting a new part 2 valve or arresting the ball cock. This is assuming your on a gravity system.
