Hi Our overflow pipe is continually dripping and we've ascertained this is due to the water being pushed the wrong way into the small tank. The water is coming from the pipe under the water that feeds the radiators etc and not from the pipe above. we've turned the water pump and the thermostat down but neither of these has had an effect. Could anyone suggest what the problem might be? Thanks

A little confused by your description. First port of call is the float valve not shutting off properly on the F&E cistern. Second port of call if this is a new problem and you have had no alterations on the heating system, is pipe restriction or blockage on the heating system. In any event this will require are service call from a qualified engineer/plumber.

Thanks for your reply. It's not a problem with the valve, we've checked. Is the only other possibility a blockage in the system? If so what would we need to do to unblock it and how much would this cost?

That's a difficult one to answer; it all depends what's wrong, there could be other things wrong, I just gave the most common problems. Phone up some Plumbing and heating businesses and ask them what their rates are and pick the one which you feel most comfortable with. May be check they are properly qualified and registered with the correct professional bodies.
