HI guys,
I have been asked to give a day rate for a contract that i may get, doing plumbing work for a guy that renovates houses. I normall charge £35 per hourbut i guess £ 300 is a bit much per day, any ideas, never been asked this one before.

depends realy where you are and how much your bringing to the table anywhere between 150 and 200 is my day rate for builders
150 if their supplying labourers to hump cut holes make good 200 if ive got to do it all
but thats mainly cos im getting lazy and want the job if its easy work and not so bothered if ive got to graft

i agree with steve,
£150 min, maybee £135 if its long term ie 3 months plus.

Hi. Be careful. Negotiate well. Long term work at say £170 a day is one thing but if he thinks he's got you body and soul, you can loose existing customers that pay better. Try say 3 day with him and 2 with other clients. or the facility to break away when the need arises. Good Luck

If its work for builders, this day and climate etc - Be carefull, no eggs to suck and all I have done work for builders for yonks (years) but I have just found out today I have been took for £6800. PS I am A two man band so place your work price on what you could earn ;)

nightmare 6800 thats a lot to be stung,i try to steer clear of builders,

hi guys,#thanks for that
will probably go with the 170 if i have to do all the graft as well and like you say commit to 3 days and leave the rest for others.
