Complete novice here!!

We had a brand new bathroom fitted about 9 months ago and have been having a lot of issues with the shower, a Hudson Reed Traditional Triple Concealed Thermostatic Shower Valve. It did seem to work ok for a couple of months but then one day we couldn't have a very hot shower, just a luke warm one. The plumber came back and adjusted the temperature range of the cartridge/ shower, so that we could get hot water, but it meant we could not get very cold water anymore, even when on coldest setting. After a few months the hot water ceased completely and we could only get tepid water. Whilst in the shower, if I turned it off for 10 seconds and then on again, hotter water would run for about 5 seconds before returning to a constant tepid.

Plumber came back to look but decided it was probably the cartridge.
Hudson Reed sent us a new one which was installed by a different plumber. That got the hot water back but again issues with the lack of temperature range, cold not cold at all (pretty warm) and hot could be hotter! We tried to adjust the temperature range ourselves as per instructions of the manufacturer, but no real change. We are novices though... As of yesterday, the temperature of the shower wasn't even that hot and there seems to be even less range between temperature regardless of turning the knob all the way to hot or all the way to cold.

Does anyone have any ideas? Do you think we've been really unlucky with 2 dodgy cartridges? Could the plumbing be the wrong way around? Is that a possibility? Is there a way we can check that ourselves?

Thank you. A plumber installed our bathroom and he came out twice already. Once he thought it was the cartridge that was the problem he refused to come out again to install the new cartridge unless we paid £120 for him to do it. So we got someone else to do it.
Someone mentioned the plumbing might be the wrong way round, does that seem feasible?

Hi just been reading spec on this shower and it seems that cartridge is fully reversible through 180 degrees , reading this its more than likely that cartridge fitted in wrong position

I would check the supplies to it, to make sure they are not crossed. Hot should be on the left as you stand and look at the shower. Being concealed this can be difficult depending how easily the front plate comes off or if you can access behind it.

Did The plumber supply the shower? If he did then you shouldn't need to pay for him to come back out

Hi Tom read spec on shower cartridge, says does not matter what way round hot/cold connections are as cartridge is reversible , think cartridge just wants turning around
