just had a very cold shower at my uncles.

ignition fault on a worcester 24i junior.

gas to the boiler, flue in good condition, i know the combustion is good on it.

so the gas valve, the board or ignition electrodes.

cant hear the electrodes working while connected, disconnected and can hear it clicking away.
so i think the boards fine but the electrodes im thinking are shot.

i quite literally have a set of screwdrivers with me.

my thoughts are replace the ignition electrodes?

Based on info supplied its a fair assumption can you test continuity of electrode leads with your 2 screwdrivers?

Had a multi meter but couldent pry them off, ordered new leads and the electrode assembly anyway.

6 members of my family have juniors, safe to say they wont be wasted.
will pull it all apart tuesday evening when i'll actually have tools!.

Do you count as 1 of your familys juniors?

My thoughts are i hope he gives you a decent breakfast and gets someone in to fix his boiler

Really easy test with no tools, can you smell gas out the flue, if its the leads you will smell gas if not valve/board

Green star. Will find out tomorrow night ehh :)

pts quoted me 94 quid plus vat for the bits.
ebay for a total of 41 inc vat. What a joke

It just fits on the electrode, then attach the lead to it and it flashes when there's voltage to it.

Usually the gas valve if its the old prettle one fitted with the solenoid connection at the back.

I'm gonna guess gas valve too... Sometimes the failed ones have a crack on the solenoid housing... Did one yesterday... Test bot solenoids for ohms, should be about 160 or 180 I think...

then again, didnt realise the boiler would fail on me !!

Have not been back yet :)
wont have the keys to the place till monday (hes on holiday and my other aunt has the spare set of keys, shes back tomorrow night)

have also ordered the pcb and gas valve to be sure i can get it up and running :)

Tis the gas valve, replaced but its come set up for A 28i junior.
set it as per specs for the 24i but the co is through the roo when the boilers set to minimum.

my minds boggled. High fire its fine
