Hi,

2 years ago I had a Vaillant ecotec plus 637 boiler fitted and the hot water tank replaced with a 250ltr Megaflow tank. Your views please...

1. Loud noise from boiler prompted me to have it inspected, the pump is done for and I've been told it's all the guff floating around in the CH system that's killed it - suspect that system wasn't very well flushed, possibly also not prescribed the right amount of inhibitor (if any..) when it was installed. I was shown some of the rusty bits from the dirty water in the system and it looked like somebody had been panning for gold! Does this sound like a poor installation to you?

2. The house has 15 radiators across 12 rooms (incl WCs) and a Y plan has been used. I was told yesterday that it should really have been an S plan as the Y plan (3 port, which feeds into a 2 port into the Megaflow - presumably extra safety?) would make the central heating inefficient. To be honest, the CH system has never been happy since this kit all went in and the boiler is usually working nine to the dozen though we don't seem to get a lot of heat out of the rads. Does this sound like it should be changed to an S plan?

Cheers!

no it doesn't sound like you need a s plan the y is fine but it does sound like the systems corroded to death you need a de scale and a magnaclean topped up with a quality inhibitor such as sentinel x100 and a new pump preferably a grundfos 15/50 or if the system requires it a 15/60
