I have a insurance job to try and rescue a poorly installed quad shower the customer wants to save the tiling if possible and has a few spare so fingers crossed it may work , the loss adjuster allowed em £1500 that will just about cover materials. Kop

Depends on door location/width and opening in/out.

If door opens out can have a little 220 deep unit opposite doorway( if it’s in centre of long wall.

If door opposite wc then basin gets in way a bit more but is doable.

Once in desperation I fitted one of those where the basin is in place of the cistern lid, no call back after 7 years so either it’s fine or they don’t want me anymore?! Not suitable is head height too low from slope.

What's the smallest you would go for a cloakroom?

I have a customer wants toilet under stairs. By the time I've sorted walls and doors I'm going to be left with 900mm long x 800mm wide.
I've looked at a 450mm short projection back to wall pan with concealed cistern going onto the other side of my 900mm length. Plus very small cloakroom basin.

Tight as a gnats chuff!
I’d want at least 1300 on the length? What the height you have?

Morning all - doing ok here, especially as I'm trying to slow down a bit now I'm approaching 63.
Business has been good up to now and I've had my second jab (on Tuesday) with relatively small side effects although I think that what I experienced might have been more to do with having the jab in the morning and then doing 3 hours of martial arts training in the evening :)
I hope that everyone is staying safe and remembering to sanitize hands and wear a mask (properly, not just over the mouth) when inside, if there are others present that is.
I've been doing the lateral flow tests twice a week as well because I do a fair bit of work in care homes. I was travelling 8 miles to get the test done but now I can do it at home it really helps to ease the pressure on my time

Managed to get back to do the wiring and oil line

Customer sent me photos off the 'dressed' wetroom.
Stunning. Well done.

What wetroom trays (if any) are you using? You done any in concrete floors by cutting out the screed/concrete?

I am just about to start mine in 2 weeks time so need to start planning.

I read about smart taps etc that can be controlled from apps to turn on at a certain time ( so when I get back from a long run the bath is ready) and a certain temperature but I cannot find them any where. Anyone know of any?

Cheers

Customer supplied all materials, the shower former was of a high density foam construction. It was into concrete. I used my 4" core drill to take out 60mm across the area. Sorted the waste, thin coat of self leveller, then flexi tile adhesive to bond the former down.

When you you used your core drill to remove 60mm of the area of the shower former, can you enlighten me on how? I don't quite understand? Was the floor former 60mm thick?

Did the waste go into an external hopper?

This 2ill be the 1st time tiling a wetroom former (my own bathroom) and so wondering how to figure out the cuts. Any advice would be great. Templating with the tile cardboard box is my thoughts?

Thanks for replying Simon. You are always quick and always willing to help.

Top man.

Oh, just as a thought, have you ever made cupboards where you tiled the doors? I want to build a false wall to house the concealed cistern and will build it full height to ceiling. The top half being cupboards. What I want to do is tile doors but I want it to look like one piece so not putting trim around them. So silicone but how do you stop the silicone from adhering to the other door? Hope that makes sense to any one?

Floor was about 5" thick, wasnt going to take it all out. So red tape around core drill. The former was about 50mm but I wanted some room to play.

So drilling vertically into the concrete to the depth of the tape so a lot of holes.
Thanks for clearing this up. Hoping mine is a screed but will use this method if not

Back to a grant combi blue this morning. Serviced it 2 months ago, in a holiday cottage so not been used, no hot water.
Whilst servicing it there was a leaky hot water pump union. Stripped it down, cleaned and back together. But it has to have the plug pulled out to get the spanner on the pump union.
Didnt plug the pump back in.
Quick fix, but felt a right dick.

Started this bathroom today in a old cottage, got it stripped floor joists are bodge job need to strengthen it all and level it all before doing anything . Kop
