    Removing unused stack pipe

Hi, Just wondering if the 4" stack pipe shown on the attached photo can be removed and capped at ground level? The bathroom was originally upstairs and now relocated to downstairs with the waste plumbed directly into underground pipework. Not sure whether this is still required for the...

    What's wrong with this pipe?

Hi All, I have these heating pipes. I think I have cleaned them last year and there is a lot of corrosion already. There isn't any water dripping and there is no dump coming from underneath as the floor is insulated with 25mm Celotex and SuperFoil on top as you can see. What should I do?

Advice on old Osma soil pipe boss

Trying to connect up new 40mm waste into the old soil stack (which would be an absolute pain to remove), it's all Osma pipe, from the 70s. Pulled out the old waste from the boss and discovered the seal is pretty knackered, hardened and cracked everywhere (red coloured seal in the photo)...

    Old waste pipe size help

Hi, came across this old push fit waste pipe. Stripped out the old shower and it was a 40mm waste pipe siliconed in the fitting. The fittings at floor level so I’d be looking to bend (90 degrees) straight away so I can get the lowest possible shower tray. Could someone advise what I could...

Septic gases in crawl space from gap in pipe.

A family member had a sewer line collapse, which brought to light several issues with their plumbing. There is a 1/4 gap in the sewer line where a 3 inch pipe and 90 sits on another 4 inch 90 going into the ground. How concerned should this family member be about septic gases in the crawl space?

Blocked soil pipe after installing replacement toilet

Hi - I'm not an expert but wondered if anyone might be able to assist. I've replaced an old toilet with a new one. I've used the same water inlet pipe, and have just replaced the right angled soil pipe connecter (110 at toilet end to a 97-107 connector end to existing soil pipe). It's secured...

Is pvc pressure water pipe okay for outdoor use?

I've just put a second tap out in the garden and ran that 1/2" pressure water pvc to do it. Down from the first one, underground, up to the second. The up and down runs exposed to the weather all the time. Is that going to be alright or I should clad them or paint them or something, protect...

    Leak on sink waste pipe

A while ago I replaced a leaky, corroded sink trap. That all appears to be fine, I can't find any leaks with it, and everything under the sink appears to be consistently dry. The problem I have is that there appears to be a leak where the waste pipe out from the bottle trap meets the wall...

Cutting copper pipe in a very tight space

Hi everyone, I'm running copper pipework for my new bathroom and there's a spot about the isolation valve which is really tight because everything has to fit behind the wall until it can run under the bath and there wasn't much space as there's a sink there too. Made a silly mistake with the...

    Hide Pipe Recommendations

What is the recommended way to conceal a 1.5M, 40mm shower waste pipe? We have 30mm gap behind the plasterboard which will be renewed. Would you chase the block 10mm or go into the concrete floor? What are the safety concerns of doing either? Thanks.
