Rads warming up when only HW on????

Hi, first post so be nice please ;) I have recently had a Worcester 30cdi fitted with a 300l Joule cylinder. We have a Salus internet thermostat fitted and all seems to be working well. With the exception that a couple of the downstairs rads get warm when the hot water is on. The heating has...

    Vertical rads

I've never fitted a vertical rad yet but will be doing so on Saturday. . I've done a little research and know it's important to pipe up the flow on the correct side of the rad so it flows through the entire rad and not just the outside. My question is this: Say the flow is on the left, can...

    Cast-iron rads

Been installing four reclaimed cast-iron radiators for a customer. To say they've been a nightmare is a bit of an understatement. Couldn't shift any of the old configurations pipework and caps so I have been forced to drill and tap them so that I can set them up with the flow and return...

Rads heating when running hot tap- twin pass heat exchanger.

Trying get my head around this one. Worcester 28i RSF (twin pass heat exchanger) is heating rads when running hot tap. Other Engineers have just told customer to turn down TRV's. Not a fix for the problem as bypass rad still heats. Any ideas? Check valves on flow and return bellow boiler maybe?

Any logic to hosing rads out before a powerflush?!

In passing, it was mentioned that when the system's drained down, it would benefit it if I took the rads off and sort of jiggle them round and run a garden hose to help clear them through before a flush was done but, and unless I'm not understanding how a flush works, shouldn't the chemicals and...

Quick one; Delonghi rads... any good??

Looking at changing a few rads when I get a new boiler, any impressions on whether Delonghi are generally any cop as I've seen a few that seem pretty reasonably priced compared to others? Looking at the two below, any comments greatly received: Delonghi Dolce Vita White Curved Designer Towel...

Replacing rads in bathrooms with towel rails

Hi all, One of my friends has a 3yr old house with normal rads in the bathrooms & cloakroom which she would like to replace with towel rads. It was built by Taylor Wimpey and the plasterboard walls are paper thin (9.5mm board I think or similar) so not the best. She has the normal 10mm...

    8mm microbore and new rads

Hi all, Soon I plan to start replacing some radiators and they are currently all connected on an 8mm microbore system where both pipes go in the same end/valve. I'm pretty sure that these valves are hard to get now, so it makes sense to change them before one of them breaks? What would you...

Hello, I am thinking of feeding all rads on the ground floor through manifold and parallel connection. - Manifold will get supply from 22mm pipes - Hep2O/Speedfit 15mm pipes from manifold will run in continuous length (under the screeded floor) to each radiator - Return 15mm pipe from each rad...

    Aeroflow Elec rads vs Combi

Hi guys, went to look at a property to buy last night that had Aeroflow electric radiators and an electric heated water cylinder. The rads system was pretty new and had all the bells and whistles remote stats and remote programmer etc. Just wondered how efficient they were to run in comparison...

UFH and Rads for Holiday Let

Hello, I have just bought a Holiday Let property, there are some functions which are desirable for the remote control of a heating system which I am not sure are possible with the systems I have looked at. I would be grateful for feedback on the following questions before I decide which...

    TRV's on bypass rads

Hello all I have a bypass in my house which feeds two bathrooms, I've lived here 10 years and only recently realised these were on the bypass. I've always turned them off in the summer using the isolating valve fitted (not trv) as it would get too hot in the bathrooms. I'd like to fit TRV's...
