I have had an intermittent overflow from my feeder tank in my flat for some time. One plumber changed the ball valve and another changed the setting on the central heating pump.
I have been staying with a friend during the lock-down. Before I left I turned off the boiler and closed the stopcock...
We bought an Edwardian semi detached house just over a year ago (previously a hotel, converted in the mid 90s).
The shower (not power or pumped) had low pressure for hot water which got worse over time, then out of nowhere (hadn’t got round to getting anyone to look at it) it was great, better...
Hi All,
Have a lead supply pipe and the compression fitting where it joins copper in the house has started dripping.
Unfortunately it’s before the stop-tap so have no way of turning off water. Anyway to fix it externally?
Have just tried some Fernax stuff but wouldn’t stick and ended up...
Hi all,
Sorry to be asking a mundane question but my mother lives with me (she is 79) and uses a downstairs toilet. I am having to replace my toilet and can not call a plumber to fit it due to the current situation we are all in. I'm also having to order everything online.
My current toilet is...
I would like to simply cut the flex copper pipe off just past the cut-off valve and attach a Shartbite male fitting or a compression fitting on the remaining copper stub which would be 7/8 inch in length after the cut. Would that meet code? Live in North Texas.
Thanks,
Don

The 3/8" braided stainless steel faucet supply lines for my GROHE bathroom sink are a couple of inches short. Is there a way to extend their length? The way this faucet is built there is no way to replace the supply lines with longer ones.
Hi, wondering if anyone can offer some advice? We just had an extension in the light-well house (lower ground floor), installing a glass roof to the light-well. This is where our gas and electric meters are, as well as the main supply valve. My concern is that this area used to be open and well...

Really odd problem with my cold water supply stopping abruptly with flow suddenly halting with a water hammer.
I've been doing loads of work on upstairs bathroom and have been switching the water off and on a number of times over the last month to plumb in new toilet, sinks, shower, bath etc...
Ok here's a weird one i'm having with my water supply. Over a year ago I started developing alot of white dusty flakes on my washing that, when washed and dried (hang/radiator/tumble) would fly off in their masses and coat my room in dust. I have to dust 2-3 times a week or the furniture is...
Hi
I have a small field with a static caravan on it. The water company are coming out in a few weeks to connect up a supply. So far I have a 90cm trench from just outside the boundary to 12 feet inside. I plan to run 25mm mdpe pipe along this to a standpipe. I'm not ready to run all the way...
I need to replace this fitting that is connected to the heating oil fuel supply to my boiler, can anyone recommend a supplier and also what what is this component known as, so that I order the correct part. TIA
I started having issues with my heating and hot water, I thought I had ran out of oil, however, when I filled up with 400 litres, the guy told me that my 1000 litre tanks is completely full, so the issue was not oil tank being empty.
Now when I try to get the boiler to work, it seems oil is not...
This tap is located in the water supply for my sink and washing machine. It has two holes in it that almost contantly percolates. The bottom line goes into the floor slab. Can't understand it's purpose. Pressure release? Trap primer?
Hi All,
I've got a house I rent out which has a combi boiler and an electric shower. I'd like to keep this setup but the tenant says the water flow from the shower is too low (like being p#ssed on - to use his expression!).
I was wondering about connecting the shower to the hot supply from the...

I've been asked to try and sort this mess. 3"clay gravity water supply from stream/spring to two houses on edge of Bodmin Moor. It is about 12-16" below surface. Who ever did this repair dug a trench down slope to allow water to run off. White area is clear silicone. It is still leaking...
