hi,
i've had some modifications to my central heating system in past 6 months and am experiencing some set up problems :
new boiler, new different spec. pump , trv's .
i have been commissioning it myself basically because the installers aren't interested,
i have noticed air collects...
When I was an apprentice I installed aquatherm for the mains and the risers, this was done with the evidence along with long write ups to accompany them only to be told that it was heating & vent and not plumbing & heating requiring me to sought evidence of a bathroom and radiators install...
hi all
i have a betacom condensing boiler, which was installed a few years ago, i live in a very exposed area and have had problems with rainwater running down the large pipe during high winds, thus dripping on to the electrics tripping everything out, the end of the large pipe has a grill...
I have a conventional, old fashioned indirect system.Feed/exp and cold storage tanks in loft. Cylinder in bathroom below. Over thesummer, as usual, I've been set to "hot water only". The HW used tobe gravity (22mm pipes to/from boiler) but a few years ago a plumber fitted apump on the return...
Hi there,
When calculating the height of the vent pipe for a CWSC, do you take the 'head' from the water level of the CWSC to the bottom of the hot water storage tank or to the lowest draw off point. I think it's the later but I'm doubting myself.
Thanks in advance :-)
I am installing a Hydroboil plus and have read the instructions about the vent. Every similar set up i have seen has the vent going into the sink.
What are peoples opinions on this. It is certainly the easiest way to do it. Having done my G3 and learnt all about D2 pipework it doesn't seem...
Hi guys, I am aware this is a long shot but I am trying to identify a soil and vent system I have never come across before, can you help?
Its a black rigid material, from the outside it looks like black painted asbestos but its not. Its installed in a domestic property built around 1960, when I...
I dont know whether or not a "boomph" noise with the boiler casing moving a little on ignition is normal for these boilers......if there could be a fault can you point me towards the possibilities? If this is the way these boilers sound? Just noticed this the other day as its in the garage.
A...
The (apparently rotated) picture shows my badly scaled up automatic airvent valve just a few cm downstream from the pump. I have some water hammer (hydraulic shock) when the pump goes off and this scaled up air vent is my prime suspect. I am ready to drain the system down and screw this old...
Just been to work on an oil combi which went in when the house was built just 7 years ago. Plumbed in on open vent? Couldn't believe it! I guess it will always have .6 bar but why would anyone do that?
F&E tank full of botany as pump on no.3. Anyone done/ seen this?
Hi I have a 3 storey 1900s house with a cast iron soil/vent stack currently fed by 2 wcs. The wcs enter the soil stack and on
each wc there is a smaller lead
pipe that connects to a branch vent pipe that re-connects to soil pipe above the second floor wc soil pipe (soil stack to the right...
Hi new member here seeking basic advice on 3T connections.
The current system uses a conventional vented oil boiler on the ground floor and is an old single pipe sytem with the boiler feed and vent from the expansion tank connected across the hot water cylinder heat exchanger on the 1st floor...
Hi, Could someone please help me. The original vent section of he soil pipe ha been cut off and replaced with a bossed pipe. connected to this is a 50mm waste pipe from the basin and bath into the soil stack. This 50mm pipe also serves as the vent pipe for the system, going up the wall and...
F&E tank, big house, full of slime, vent capped off. Why would someone do that? Boiler wired up weird too, on HW, tank stat opens 2PV but doesn't turn boiler on, valve only wired to the stat.
Any logic in this? Cable runs are easy, boiler directly below cylinder.
Cheers
Hello folks,
converting open vent system to sealed heating system (hot water to remain vented) - the boiler is fine to convert (glowworm ultimate), as is cylinder. I know it needs expansion vessel, safety valve, gauge, filling loop etc. Initial query: can the safety valve go in the airing...
Whats the point of this when you want to change a rad and re-pipe? All it does is hold the water in the f and e tank. The existing rad pipework drains anyway with the pipework under the floor and when re-filling the system if there is any carp in there this will still drop into the pipework...
