Don’t think I ever mentioned that I test pipes in uk with 1bar. Yes I agree, I did say I would and that would be the appropriate way to pin point leaks, hairline cracks etc. But I never said I do and don’t stick to the uk rules. It’s a slight difference of having an opinion and doing it as I said I would. However, you won’t get my point as you always seem to look for excuses. Yes, you would need to otherwise you will ruin the appliances. You can only test them via there operating pressure as you know. But when it comes to testing the pipework throughout the property when installed new then you will need to use the appropriate fittings to cap them off and test them with higher pressure ( but that’s the way we do it in Germany ). We do 2 test before bedding pipes into the concrete, load testing ( 1bar with air or N ) for 30min -1hour and then a 15 min test leak test.

Sorry but it is difficult to explain german terms in English. I think you can’t be careful enough when it comes to gas. I know it’s done differently here and I do whatever is required but I would wish few things would be different.

True it is standard practice but in Germany and not here in uk. I just stated few things how we do it in Germany I don’t think it’s wrong to mention some facts. You don’t seem like you like Germany

I guess you know the most common Vaillant, Junkers/Worcester Bosch, viessmann, brötje, weisshaupt etc.. Vaillant has a lot of other gas storage boilers which are well designed for much higher hot water demand.

It is slightly different compared to uk. Most people works for companies rather than being self employed. You will need a master degree to be able to run an own business. However, each company and installer needs to be registered though.

So if in that situation, you had a 3mbar drop on a g4 metre, your conscience gets the better of you and you decide to investigate. You isolate the appliances and prove the pipework is sound. You then test each appliance individually and find the gas valve on the fire is passing. What then? Do you leave it or have to condem it?

Once you have gone down that route thats it. I had a gas sqfe routine inspection not long ago and I had a 0.5 drop on the job he came out to. The gas safe guy confirmed no smell of gas on existing install its a pass. If I had decided to isolate appliances I would be obliged to find it.
