Can anyone recommend a plumbers merchant that has them? I have been to pipe centre and parts centre and they don't. Or is it ok to come off the meter with a 22mm union and branch up to 28mm off the 22mm? Right next to the meter?

Yes mate you can just do that.

Last one I had to get the plumb Center were the only stockists! Pts and my local merchant don't ever stock them

tbh if yo look in to the 28mm union you will realise that its not actually 28 nut 22 , so 22mm union with 22mm to 28mm reducer is the chippest way of doing it and also just as good as 28mm one

gas is different to water in that a small restriction at the meter union wont have a major effect on the entire flow through the system/pipework, this is because gases can be compressed but water can not. So a 22mm union is normally fine and is what i use, mainly because i get them for free.

You can get them readily and cheaply from BES, but as already stated, a 22 straight up to 28 should be fine

They aren't worth it, the internal diameter isn't much different to the 22mm one. Just stick a 28x22 reducer straight onto the union, it will be cheaper and there wont be any adverse affects to doing so aslong as your gas pipe is correctly sized.

Awesome replies guys. Thanks. Hrre is my situation 20130423_174403.jpg

Could the copper (Outlet) have taken a different route on the other side away from the electric?

You can move the meter yourself, if the anaconda allows.

You should really be turning that off Mutters. You've the electrical incomer and meter smack bang next to a gas meter with cables running with what looks to be within 25mm of the pipework.

My view is that's ID.

Am sure it can. I have not really looked. I only know at this moment I need to upgrade the pipe. As I know 22mm wont be sufficient.

It is not on. No boiler in the property. It is empty. I am going to install all appliances. Sorry if am scarying you chaps.

I am Gas Safe but to be honest I didn't know we are allowed move gas meter. Will have to go and look in my viper. Thanks for the heads up
