Yes doodlebug it's a blockage on the flow from manifold, 10mm plastic pipe work.

If you've got a manifold with 10mm plastic pipes then I'd forget about flushing it, a repipe is the best option here.

This is a common occurrence and from the sound of it, it goes on all over the country.

No point shouting bad apple, this stems a lot deeper than that and it boils down to maximum profitability over customers interests.

Sorry, i've only ever been involved in contracting for BG and the elitist attitude did fair to well with me, especially when the whole system was a shower of ****e. These kind of 'target's are easy pickings, and the worst of it all is that these are probably good engineers, brain washed by the attitude and forced to become a salesman by financial incentives and sales targets.

its quite easy for a small percentage of a work force to cause a bad name for the entire work force which is the case for BG when you read about them on web forums like this. Same could be said for warmfront/ega installs..... that said i have yet to see a good warmfront install!

You will find the majority of engineers are interested only in doing the job their paid to do.

Another engineer had already tried a power flush, I'm going to cut out the blocked run at the manifold and see if I can vax it or clear it from there. If not new run it is. Custard is already aware cheers tho doodlebug.

I used to do alot of Ega work and I know where your coming from I used to work for Iguana and had to work 14-15 hours a day to get the jobs done in the allowed time. I always power flushed the systems and always did a good install but I have seen loads of these jobs just slapped in sludged up and boilers knackered within a couple of years (Didnt help we had to fit Isars/Icos).

The problem is if there is a financial benefit (At Iguana I was earning £1K a week and I was no where near the top earner he must have been on 2-3K) people will cut corners and try to rip people off for there own personal gain which makes life alot harder for genuine engineers who do give correct advise. The only financial benefit people should get working for a company is for completed jobs with no call backs to them that way the engineers would not force a power flush when just a TRV is needed as they would have to go back afterwards.

I heard about you part timers only doing 15 hours a day when I was with Iguana. I've seen more than my fair share of dodgy warmfront installs. I managed to get myself a reputation as a troubleshooter and would regularly get sent to sort out the lash ups other people had left. There were a lot of good installs but it's rare for people to mention those.
