Made the mistake of agreeing to fit a 2nd hand cylinder for a family friend that is broke at the moment and it's just been one hassle after another.

It's a fortic f1 direct combination cylinder that he managed to get his hands on, looks in decent condition if a bit old.

The hot water draw off looks like a 3/4" but a 3/4" female iron will not fit on it, it's like it's slightly too small.

Is there a special fitting for this or am I missing something/being dense? Normally refuse to fit 2nd hand stuff as it's nothing but headaches!

Are you sure this tapping isn’t a 22mm with the nut and olive missing? I have seen a few cylinders with a factory fitted 22mm connector, try a piece of 22mm and see if it fits inside.
I thought the hot water draw off is usually a female tapping that requires a MI X copper.

Yep if it’s a smidge small (3/4”) it’s a normal 22mm nut now try a normal compression if that doesn’t fit try a Honeywell zone valve nut
