1p stop end

A certain local authority I once worked for had a childrens home with 2 gas supplies: MP supply at front with the meter buried halfway in the tarmac of the drive (kinda like a buried box but without the box), old LP supply at back across fields that used to feed a laundry. Doing a load of building and groundworks there found the old supply (no meter) was still live and pipe was only about 3" below ground. Builder wanted it out of the way as it was holding up his work. Phones gas board to chop off supply and they say need to contact shipper etc. so about 6 weeks delay. Looked at very dodgy rusty pipe and thought "I reckon it's leaking", couple of taps with a spade and a slight leak, phoned in as an emergency and supply chopped off and everybody happy within 2 hours!

This pump has given up the ghost, Ive been asked to change it. Spot the work that needs and ought to be done...

PS
Dont know why the photo has gone on its side..
