Blocked flue?

Are you sure that's not a display from a vent showroom?

No, it's definitely from a basement of a house. I'm back next week to do some more work so I'll take a photo from the other side of the door as it's a real state. I think originally they were all in stainless steel but didn't have any sizes written on them so someone swapped them for plastic ones that have the free air space detailed on them.

I count 6 brass fittings not needed.
Filter should ideally be at oil tank.
Oil pipe drops down (using compression elbows) which will trap air.
Pipes not clipped to support.
Oli pipe from underground looks like it isn't covered or sleeved.
KBB on wrong way.

Other than that, it is a lovely job!

Heres a small selection that were knocking around my pc.18122011418.jpgmelted combustion box on an ideal he 1518122011420.jpg18122011421.jpgsump18122011422.jpg18122011423.jpgblocked condense18122011425.jpg

this one is of a pipe still leaking from a small pinhole the pale line from the pipe across dust pan is a fine stream of water. Pipe was below first floor floor boards below which had been filled in with rubble and mortar at the top of some stairs. Some interesting ethnic techniques had been used by the home owner to support a split floor board leading to corrosion of a pinched closed and soldered central heating dead leg.27102011409.jpg27102011410.jpg27102011411.jpg

That about sums it up although you can assume there isn't a single pipe insert either. Finds like that often make my day 🙂

Amazing oil pipe.
Had to pipe up a new tank yesterday afternoon (tank already in place). Found an 1 1/4" waste pipe going under double garage as conduit which was nice but inside was what I can only suggest to be pipe from a condensate pump? When I pulled thus out, it snapped in pieces it was so brittle.
The boiler end had some copper pushed into it then a jubilee clip! To add further insult, 6 inches up was a flared fitting. All that under concrete. Amazing that it survived this long.

Oh it's plastic it's fine it's only oil. Bet the boilers sooty from all the dissolved plastic / polymer the oil pickled up

Another pretty exterior insulation balls up, our local council used a firm who made an absolute mess then went bust before the works were completed..

Why the council/ firm decided to paint the walls pink/ green or sick colour amazes me.
