Collage can help, HSE and if u have more than 5 employees u should already have one. If less than 5 u don't legally need a documented policy. Make a few sensible rules and get lad to sign for them . I've written a few policies. Risk assessments really should be job specific .

U can also download acops ( approved codes of practice from HSE )

Think young persons risk assessment is avail free along with guidance for employing them. On HSE website

Gas fitting isn't rocket science, it's just a particular skill set, I think it's better taught as a apprentiship as good working practises and the ethos are more likely to be passed on, but it's also a trade that's very accessible for logical switched on people with good people skills and can pretty much be self taught with a bit of help.

I don't like that the gas industry has become easily acceptable to those fruitloops who have no business in the industry, also the lack(by some) of gasmans paranoia which leads them to have no fear of things going bang is a concern for me, back in the day I was taught that every job I do I must always be able to explain my actions to a coroner, which keeps me on my toes.

His collage and or training provider normally has a lot of bamph as they are placing them in your care?

How did you learn to drive?

Did you do a 3 year apprenticeship?
Started driving JCBs aged 10 & tractors younger than that. You learn a lot on Shooting Eastates & Farms as a kid. As a 2nd year apprentice, like all apprentices that worked for the firm I served my time with, we were working in customer's houses very early on.

As an employer for the last 36 years I'd always employ a Real Timeserved Plumber before a course cowboy. For starters the Tutors are failed Plumbers & the courses are complete rubbish.

Your not allowed on farm machinery until uour 13 some good health safety practice that

I think the saying ignorance is bliss for you, I no accessors and examiners that have come of tools after 20 years or so to go into teaching, you couldn't learn off better people.

Haha you can just imagine Dickie turning up for his ACS Assessment ( he won't need any training) telling everyone over the coffee how good he is and what he has done over the years, then the assessor tutting as he starts to do what he does at work every day but he's time served so MUST be good

Oh c'mon now Kirky auld son, you know as well as I do, a manilla stuffed with 50s & any assessor will pass you with flying colours. I have it on good authority, you have what's called 'Coatbrig' Constipation', 2 bottles of Buckie & 100 quid - you'll pass anything!!

Congrats, is that a new addition to the family??

What's the old saying; 'You can always tell a Yorkshireman, but you can't tell him much'!!!

I think I'm one of the few in Coatbridge who honestly has never tried buckfast, although there are a few pubs about this area which have it optics
Yes a new grandson, 16 weeks, in fact it was his dedication service at Church this morning

Bucky gets you !!! One of my flat mates at uni was a public school boy from Belfast. I hang my head in shame. Every Friday night bottle of number 1 and a 7 !!! Went out to a lovely establishment called lavreys in Belfast and was introduced to dog bite chaser. Brown ale and strongbow followed by 12oz of Bucky! Those monks know their tonic.

Congrats on baby too.!

That's lovely Kirk, I hope the whole family had a good day.

You didn't bump into Ricky Burns around Sunnyside by any chance?? Apparently you can see for miles through his glass jaw.

Yes we had a fantastic day, surrounded by family and friends for a lovely service, Haha I wouldn't know Burns if I saw him, other than his red neck from the result the other night, don't see him as a local superstar so haven't bought into the team Burns thing
