I had that problem tail end of last year. I went and bought some 34" waist work trousers. Problem solved. Bit of a sad day though, I've had a 32" waist since my late teens...
 
I wandered in here originally because i did not know any other plumbing and heating engineers.
This place is good place and not full of knobbers like the groups on facebook
