My builder has fitted the UFH piping and then the screed and flooring but has not put in a manifold - What can we do? Can we just hope that the system works when the manifold is fitted? Obviously we don't want to tear up the floor and screed?? I've read it should have been pressure tested and the manifold fitted prior to this? To compound matters...the builder has now done a runner..so we are looking to someone else to finish off our build

Any pics ?

All the pipes run up into a cupboard ready for the manifold. Trouble is he’s already installed Amtico flooring....can we just get the manifold installed and hope that all is ok? Eg. I don’t want to contemplate ripping up floor and screed unless we have to

I would pressure test the pipework before doing anything

I would set a static air pressure test - 2 bar- so if it does leak badly no water in wrong place then if it does or does not leak air let us know and we can advise you more.

Sorry. It needs a manifold and connecting into the main Heating primaries also the floor should have been commissioned and dried before your amtico went down.

Heres one from earlier this year. Floor still had moisture in it.

Can't air test above .50 bar

You could use a regin type pump to put 1bar pressure in there first but no more! if your worried about leaks , but nothing beats a water hydrolic test and you need to make sure you have a flow and return with a good flow in and out and the pipework is not blocked and is leak free this will save you a lot of grief further down the line now Bodge it and Leggit has moved on to his next victim. All the best kop

Why is that then ? would 0.5 bar do then ? use a moded up drainage balloon or pump

Because it could kill someone if a fitting or the pipe pops

Due to air compression
