Changing valves in a Brixton quest kitchen tap

Have removed the cold valve easy enough, but the hot valve will not unscrew, have used a spanner and mole grips, but both start sliding and starting to damage the nut surface, is it possible that the hot tap valve unscrews the opposite way ? I assumed both would be anti clockwise to unscrew...

How long do honeywell two port motorised valves last?

Ours are lasting between a year and two years and then I have to replace. Is this normal or should I be investigating our central heating system to find out why? Which motorised valves do you recommend I use?

How do I shut off a bathroom radiator with angles valves?

My bathroom radiator is very hot in a small room and I would like to shut it off but can’t work out how. There are two valves one at each side at the bottom with a small prong sticking out of each one. I don’t know what the difference is between them or even if that is what I have to turn or how!

UFH must valves open before pump runs?

The (rather sparse) manual with the controller that was supplied with my UFH (Hettaj describes the start sequence as - when demanded by the stat - valves open then pump runs. As the programmability of the stat is very basic, I’d like to replace it with a smart controller the same as I use on...

Flow rates through 2 and 3 port valves.

Yes it me again with another question. I keep reading that one will get a better flow rate in an S plan than in a Y plan. Now I can see that being valid if both heating and hot water are called for but if only one surely the flow rate will be the same for both plans? Finally are there any makes...

Automatic bypass and radiator thermostatic valves

Hi If the radiator valves are not demanding much heat and are near closed then the automatic bypass should be cutting in. I have a few queries that may be obvious but not to me as old system did not have an automatic bypass. [1] When it comes in it is shunting some of the hot water, will this...

Getting a smart heating (Tado): Dynamic Valves? How important is the type of TRV?

Hi, I'm getting a Tado smart heating system (have a gas combi boiler). I don't have TRVs currently, so I need to get a plumber to replace my old valves and get TRVs everywhere. So I might as well get good ones, and it doesn't really matter whether one costs €15 or €25. I found the Danfoss...
