Epic soldering failure on shower rough in valve, are inline shutoff valves the problem?

Howdy I need to install a new rough in valve in my shower-bath. I bought a Delta 10000 UNBX and using the existing 1/2" copper piping was able to fit up the 2 inlets and pipe to the shower head and another to the tub, all 1/2 copper. The bathroom is on the ground level. In the basement right...

    Half closing isolation valves ok?

Hi all, Just a quick check - is there any issue with half closing isolation valves to reduce flow? Eg to things like cisterns, basin taps etc. I've seen many posts saying it's totally fine and good way to reduce flow to stop splashback etc and others suggesting it can cause failure over time...

One pipe system special rad valves

Are rad valves used on a one pipe system usually specialist less flow restrictive to normal valves? Possibly have a bathroom rad to swap for a towel rad. On one. Also can a modern towel rad. Be too flow restrictive for a one pipe system?

4 siemens 3 port valves burnt out in a year.

Changed a clients burnt out 3 port siemens DVA3 heating valve head like for like this time last year. Just put it down to normal wear. Then it burnt out in April. I thought unlucky, siemens not great but ok and changed it. Told client to make sure not to cover it etc as I know they can get hot...

What are these valves called and can I replace with gate valves?

Hello all, this set up in the attached image was what we inherited when moving in. The balancing valve on the 15 mm bypass and the isolator on the 22mm pipe emerging from the bottom of the cylinder heating coil are both dribbling in the circular recess where the square head sits. My intention is...

Change 4 zone heating system to smart thermostatic radiator valves instead?

I've just moved into a house for the first time where I don't just have a single heating zone. This house has a central timer unit and 4 room thermostats that control 4 Honeywell V4043H1056 valves beside an currently unidentified Johnson Starley combi boiler (although there is also a hot water...

Check valves on incoming mains supplys

It’s been a long time since I did a wras course. Should you fit a check valve to a mains supply after the stop tap or is it a recommendation? Does this apply to new supply’s, alterations or all? I am quoting to replace this lot

Under Floor Heating - one of the valves sticking?

Hi - I'm not sure what these things in the picture are called, but water flows to each room when the "float" moves down, but one is stuck. Last year a heating engineer came and unstuck the valve by tapping on it with his screwdriver head. I've tried that, but no luck - three of the floats move...

Any ideas on how to bleed these valves?

Hi all, my towel rail is only half heating up and I'm guessing it needs bleeding, thing is it hasn't got your usual bleed valves installed, so how do I go about bleeding this rail? Hmm it won't let me add pics??. Basically its a flat head screwdriver kind of valve head, I've tried searching on...

    Two channel ball valves??

This may be a silly question, but limitless googling has got me nowhere. Is is possible to source a Y/T valve with two separate channels (so four inputs, two outputs, where say in position 1 the first input connects to the first output and the second input connects to the second output, then in...

    Rad valves in bathroom

Hi guys, long time lurker, infrequent poster... I have a rad in my bathroom with a TRV, simple enough so far... The pin on the trv has seized. I have tapped, sprayed wd40, tapped again, sprayed, twisted, pulled, tapped, sprayed... And the pin just wont open,so ive come to the conclusion its...

15mm Towel radiator valves with 10mm supply

I've bought a new chrome towel radiator as the old one is all rusty. I also bought new angled (standard) valves, 1/2" X 15mm as they too are old and rusty. But when I look at what comes out of the wall, it's clearly not 15mm pipe, looks more like 10mm (plastic). How have they gone from 15mm...

Been asked to quote to replace these gate valves!

Hi, Looking for advice on how to tackle replacing these 28mm gate valves off LLH. Spoke to Hire It (BSS) they have Freezemaster machine but heads are 100mm so not going to fit stubs of pipe close to LLH. Is there a different machine out there with with smaller head e.g. REMS, Rothenberger...

What is the best make of Angled radiator valves

I have 10 radiators with smart TRVs fitted to angled radiator valves - some of these valves are weeping around the plunger shaft - the valves were fitted in 2012 and 8 years seems a short life (I suspect they were cheap!), so I want to replace all 10 valves with better quality valves - but need...

    One pipe system valves

Morning all. I hope you are all well. I have come across a one pipe system which basically isn't working. Client says it has never worked great but it has become a lot worse. I see the radiators that have been added later on have valves on both ends of the rad which I hear is a no no. I also...

Do these regulation valves also firmly isolate pipe work?

Hi. Will this crane regulator valve act as an isolation valve too allowing for alterations? Many thanks.

    Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs)

I have two elderly customers who are no longer able use the Drayton rt212 trv’s they have on their radiators due to arthritis. Are there any lever operated valves anyone is aware of? I have suggested something along the lines of Honeywell Evohome, but they are worried they may not be able to use...
