Fitted an alpha intek 28x today should have been a straight forward combi swap, it took 7hrs. The Flue connections were awful, the pipework was not the standard f hw g cold r and I couldnt get the zone valves and salus unit to wire in and work. Ended up sticking a standard room stat on and leaving the thermostatic valve to control the under floor heating. In the meantime Ive told the customer I need to go away and think about the salus and wirless stat connections. Has anyone got any experience of salus units? Is it acceptable to leave the underfloor heating controled by the thermostatic valve? :stuart:

From memory if ufh has own pump.

L & n to stat, and n to pump and zone valve S/L from stat two connections connect one s/l to L on pump.

Other s/l into pipe stat or wet pocket stat on blended outlet of valve (set pipe stat to almost same temp as upper limit on blending valve.) outlet from pipe stat to L on zone valve. Micro switch on zone valve controls boiler.

To avoid damage to boiler connect a multimeter set to continuity (buzz) on micro switch wires at boiler before u connect to boiler, then if u have made error just fuse in meter. Test.

Sequence. Stat calls for heat. Pump on. Hear blending valve noise. Pipe stat cold so opens two port. Noise changes, meter buzzes. Job done. Turn pipe stat right down if pipe warm zone valve will close and buzz from meter stop.

(When testing above put boiler on by linking out or putting on other stat. )

On sal receiver use a small bit of wire 1mm2 ish to take live from the live input on to one of the two contacts, other contact is your switched live.

Assumed rest of system was on its own zv. If zv was to control system,

Stat as before , s/l from stat to L on zv. Micro switch to boiler.

If ufh has own stat, take live from pump. Connect to pipe stat and then outlet from pipe stat to 240v 3a relay (need n from pump Also.) Connect other side of relay to volt free on boiler. Assuming boiler is volt free.

If boiler not volt free run s/l from pipe stat straight into boiler and connect the live in the zv to one of the wires on micro switch, other micro switch wire to s/l on boiler. We have lift off.
