hello lads,

Just subcontracted a lad to install abouler for me Worcester 29cdi.

However, if you look at the picture below you won't believe your eyes.

In my eyes it looks like a 10years old installation. However, he wanted £680 for the install which was fine but delivering such a mess and shot work behind thats a little bit too much for me.

That's not all we also had trouble with the boiler firing up. The pump is broken at the brand new boiler and the technical support will come out on Wednesday to assess and change the pump.

2 days without hot water and heating :/ how bad is that for the tenants?

I am really upset with the pipe work.

What would you guys tell him after he asking for leaving a review ?

Would you be frank and tell him off for that? He had an apprentice with him I assume he has done the job but seriously leaving this that bad is for me a no go.

Looks fine to me, it will never look nice when you have to cross pipes

Can you access pipes below the worktop ?

I totally disagree, he could have cut the pipes a lot lower and could have cleaned the pipes and used a little less solder as there are everywhere snots and green coloured pipes. Some of the pipes are crooked too. I just have a different level of plumbing. He didn't even clean Rubbish up after him finishing the job. I stood there and hoovered the Rubbish up cleaned the worktop and threw all the carboards away.

However, not very happy with the install but I learned again when hiring ppl. If someone is going to tell me he likes the way it is even the filling loop then I know what his way of plumbing is. I believe that's not your level either as I have seen your jobs on gledhill cylinders which are not to compare.

Sorry forgot to add yes you can access the pipes

If you can access the pipes easily from underneath all that should be there with straight runs up through the work top

And what's wrong with the filling loop same as existing

Yes, exactly that was my thinking. Even though when crossing pipes it could have been cleaned and without those ugly shots. In regards to the filling loop why not putting 2 bends on and let it facing downwards?! It sticks out quite far into the room.

Just not my type of Install neither the cleanliness

Could of but existing one couldn't been much of a problem else they would of had it changed

And it's not easy soldering good and even I get snots, but I clean them up and sand them back

Evening mate. Sub contracting work out is not an easy thing to do which is why I do not do it. But you need to sit down with the Engineer and tell them what you expect. This avoids that awkwardness at the end of the install.

The filling loop is a new one, so why not doing the job a little nicer. It's just laziness that's all it is.

First pic isn't unless you told him it's an issue how is he supposed to know

That's a true thing. Have learned again and won't happen this way again.
I need to subcontract as I am not registered just yet. But you never know what you get when you hire someone it's like Kinder Überraschung egg :)

I'm talking about the second picture. He closed mains water and changed the old filling loop. Why did he not put 2 elbows to make better ? However, bad thing is boiler not working due to the faulty pump

Did you tell him that the old one was in the way ?

And that's nothing to do with the engy, I've had a faulty pump and a gas valve on a new boiler out of a 100+ that's not bad but not my fault

Benchmark filled in and notified on gs ?

I couldn't agree more.
If I use anyone for any job, they are told before hand that I want belt n braces!
They are also told if something is not right I will spot it and it will need to be re-done so they may as well take their time and do it right first time. If they are unsure of what I want they should ask.
If you say it at the start, you have a head start in the discussion when something is not to your liking.
There is no reason things cannot be plumb, level, square and definitely no reason why a job can't be neat.

I did not say it's his fault about the boiler issue. However, yes he registered the boiler with Worcester and he is going to fill out the benchmark once the boiler is fixed by Worcester as he cannot commission the boiler. He is going to do it tomorrow

I have spoken to the installer I subcontracted he said he has checked the installation manual regarding the clearance. It wouldn't be my issue as he has to put things right if it turns out wrong.

But thanks for all your comments.perhaps my expectations are to high. Well, once qualified I will do them all alone.

Thank you all for your input, much appreciated. I still learn everyday you learn more. Next, time I know what to do better. It's just a shame that people do not care about longer term businesses. Seems like one job business and that's it. However, at least I can come on here and get an honest professional advice and opinion. Thumbs up

Never a truer word spoken !
Pride in your work, quality workmanship, quality materials and good customer care/service all lead to a good reputation, recommendations and repeat custom.

Thanks mate, I really try hard to give everyday 150% even though it's just a tap. I really care about my company and my reputation and hoping to meet the right people in the future to subcontract. But as mentioned many times I'm happy to come on here to get always and honest advise, it really is rare nowadays and therefore I appreciate that very much.

How did he lift a CDI classic into that gap!!!

Don't they have a built in loop?

It's pretty rough. Someone else said it looks like a one day install, so done as quick as possible.

No shock arrestor?
Did they clean the system?
