Rain Leaking Through Flue & Onto Boiler

Hi all, Bit of a weird issue with my flue. I live in a 1st floor flat and over the last 12 months or so more & more rain water has been leaking through my flue and on to my boiler. The leaking only happens when the rain is driving directly towards the flue. When the rain does drop back...

I'm after a boiler with a rear flue option for a replacement cupboard installation, i know the Vaillant Ecofit Pure and Gloworm equivalent but i've fitted one before and wasn't really happy paying a grand for what seems to be essentially the same as a £480 Heatline Capriz2 so was looking for...

    Vaillant ecomax flue corrosion?

Hi guys, looking at a vaillant and the flue shows signs of corrosion on the air intake, I put my analyser in and o2 was coming back at 20.9% with no co readings so flue integrity is fine. It must be caused by water ingress from rain but wondering if I should at risk it or not.

    Flue termination distance

I’m going to be moving a Vokera Unica i32 on Monday. I had a quick look at the building while driving past and it looks like the steel gas service pipe running externally to the flat above is where the flue would come out so I’ll have to re direct it a bit. I was looking at BS 5440 and can’t...

    Flue integrity test

I always do a flue integrity check on the air inlet sample point. Never had an issue. Doing one today and I realised I don’t know what values the are to be classed as a fail. Can’t seem to find it in my books either. Is there a TB I can read to refresh my brain?

Rain water coming in through flue.

Hi I had this problem earlier in the year (I’ve got breakdown cover with British Gas) they came out and diagnosed the problem and fixed the boiler but the engineer told me that the breakdown cover doesn’t cover the flue and if I had the problem again it would be very likely they wouldn’t come...

Vertical flue through 4 pitched roof

How do you go about putting a vertical flue up through a roof where you cant get a roof ladder to hook over anything. They have a vertical flue in now and it's on a pitched roof but a side one if you get what I mean. I'm guessing scaffold up then unsure what to do next.

Metallic clanking from boiler flue when boiler is off

I've got a boiler installed in the bedroom. When it's windy/rainy outside and the boiler's off there's a metallic clanking/tapping sound that seems to be coming from inside the flue. I've posted a video here (). You can only just hear it in the video, but it's fairly loud and is waking me up...

    Best flue gas analyser?

How can we block off an unused external boiler flue?

We had a boiler in an old shed adjacent to the house. The flue is encased in a brick chimney stack that runs up the outside of the house. Some years ago, the boiler was moved inside, but the old flue remains. It looks like a chimney but is open at the bottom and unsightly. I am not sure...
