Saves me from putting the christmas decorations up.:)

Sick looking at it now.

Well its seriously deep down in the south east too now.

I hopped into my dads 4x4 to get to work today. My van was having none of. Saw a car skidding backwards down the hill I live on, brake lights on, doing about 20 MPH. Then crunch.

We're pretty hopeless in the snow as a nation!

The snow is fine. It's the idiots who can't drive in it who are the problem.

Well my nice icicle decorations came down this morning......along with about 10 ton of snow and 4 length of cast gutters. I think the ones on the side may be next as the roof hangers are stretching a bit!
I might be needing a plumber after the thaw:confused::confused:

Just been out with the dogs and checked the temps on the car and the vans. Minus 16-17. Knew it was bad when my hand stuck to the gate:eek:

allways best to get someone in to get a proper job done.lol

got the freelander insured last night, no-no claims discount available. £0 excess, fully comp, 3 points, mrs named driver, monthly d.d. all for £205.
wonder how much with 75% no claims discount (its on the van)?.

taking it for an mot tomorrow if i get time.
tools in on saturday.

That is a good price. Mine was £390 odds with 10yrs no claims but any driver in case i need to let one of the boys out in it. (i'd like to see the look on her face if that happens:p:))

Took our Land Cruiser (6 yrs old) to a customer I couldn't reach yesterday in the van (about 1/4 mile short!). Wife's car and insurance is £526. She and me as named. Neither of us have points (me 3 about 15 years ago) and no accidents for 20+ years (she never). And we live in a quiet rural area with next to no crime. Annoying thing was this was about the cheapest quote at the time.

So you boys, got 4x4's with great isurance. get any where. I've got a foot of snow, unusual for southern softies, and a BMW 320 D tourer with rear wheel drive. Insurance not to bad, fuel consumption economic, but driving it in the snow has to be one of the worst experiences going. (Remeber Torvil & Dean Straight 10'S) Not bad for a car built by a Bavarian motor vehicle manufacturer near the alps?. The rest of the year its the best car I've every driven.

i have a diesel astra van (the work dog) crap in the snow, i have a rather nice rover 75 diesel excellent in the snow (crap for working in)

Best car I ever had for the snow was a miniature Subaru Justy - impossible to skid in that thing unless you were stupid and, boy was it fun when you were stupid!!

in my younger days i put a transit in a double 360 degree spin in the snow s*** myself silly still good fun LOL

. (Remeber Torvil & Dean.

i used to know him (chris dean).
he was a copper in the market square in nottingham back in the late seventies. he used to have breakfast with the 3 of us every morning at the time i was starting out as a maintenance plumber for bernie inns hotels.
a bit of a north pole challenge special equiptment toyota on ice,
but on the street, a citroen diane.lol,

Steve put a few bags of sand in the boot over the rear axle. Rear wheel drive is brilliant fun in the snow.

The 4x4's are fine in snow and we have had near 3ft. It is thawing a bit tonight.

And drop your tyre pressures a bit;)

Thanks Tamz. I 've a full boot and tank of fuel, and yer it is a little bit of fun. but I should'nt admit it at my age (impression on theadult kids etc) still scares me though. I used to have a 3.5L V8 Ford Capri (Custom Job) in my 20's and that was supurb fun for crap handling in the snow, but when ur old, reactions are not so good and my Beema is worth a lot more than crappy Capri.

Aye i suppose you would get some funny looks broadsiding it through the tesco carpark.
I had a couple of Capri's too (1 a 2 litre with a 1300 dif that could wheelspin in 3rd to impress the birds), cortina, VX4/90, escorts, avenger and a whole lot of other shyt, total value just over a tenner :p Didn't matter too much what you did to them. Cashed it in at the scrappies and bought another one. Changed days now though:D

I can remember stopping at a car show thing in a field down by Ayr years back and some lad had a V8 Capri. I liked his chrome stop and go pedals.

Right hand full, Used to wheel spin in 3rd gear. Drink fuel like no tomorrow, but great fun. Real bird puller. Classic passenger seat with optional knicker relaxant facility.

i remember a capri ghia 2.8i, i think v6.
stripped out the engine, uprated it and painted it red. it was a right blinger.
we did a standing 1/4 mile and hit around 120mph, just as we got to the other end of the town at 3pm on a saturday afternoon.
those were the days if the copper saw you he was too late.lol. (i wasnt driving at the time, honest).

hilman avenger, yea had one of those 30 years ago, nearest to a ford torrino you could get at the time.
met the wife when i had it, i didnt carry condoms in the glove box, instead it was carboretta diaphragms as they split every 70 miles (now we have 2 kids and promised another go next birthday). i bought it for £220 then sold it 2 years later with a new red oxide top coat, peco twin big bore side exhaust, 215 rear tyres and chain steering wheel (customize project gone wrong) to some muppet for £250, he thought it looked great/.
then i bought a vauxhall viva???????????????.
