moving onto another topic....

when doing a flue flow and spillage test, do i also need check flame pictures and check thermocouple to ensure gas valve closes within 60 seconds of isolating gas at the appliance?

apart from visually checking builders opening and cleaning if required, is there anything else?

I forgot to ask, for the life of me, i cannot seem to find a manual for main medallion 2 gas fire. will data badge suffice for checking gas rate etc?

Data badge fine..... Where is your mentor? He should be answering all this. Are you actually a trainee and not just an illegal taking us all for a ride?

Ermintrude there have been a few of things that my mentor has said which I found to be incorrect. This is why I'm double checking everything that I do. I'm more than happy to forward any pics if people wanna see my ugly mug doing installs....Then again you can argue I'm still not in training..... I'm not entirely sure how I would prove it....

Do what i Had to do.
post a photo soldering naked while doing a headstand

Naked pics coming soon..what this space...

Data badge is fine for info, but it won't tell you where to do a spillage test from, although some fires do have a plate telling you where to do it

Why? You only need to use lead free on hot and cold water.

Lead solder runs better, is half the price and you can use it on gas and ch pipework.

can you fill up the kettle with the hot? Mix up taps and pour yourself a glass of water from it?
Wouldn't catch me putting hot water in my kettle. But then again I've never bought leaded in my life as I know I'd pick it up by mistake at some point

Ok. It's something we choose not to risk. Not to mention the occupational health issues.

I did a Flue flow and spillage test over the weekend. While doing a Flue flow test, my training center told us to take off the back plate and let the pellet burn as in photo but my mentor has said the smoke pellet should be burnt thorough the back plate hole......are both ways permissible?

Either, but you need to remove closure plate to inspect/clean catchment space and look up chimney so there is your answer.

Another quickie... We'll be doing a gas certificate this weekend. A delonghi 4 Burner gas hob has the data badge missing for some odd reason and there no instructions to hand. Is there a standard range of KW for 4 burners?

Not these days, every make is different now with wok and dual burners etc.
