Hi.
Being told the answers is no way to learn.
You really need to get hold of some literature or books (online if you know where to look ;)
So get dug in and learn the right way

:)

I know I need to get the books, but im waiting to find out if there being provided

Some training centres provide them as part of your course material. I had to pay for mine.

Hey all, passed my acs today.

I just wanna say a huge thank to those who have helped me.

Just need to wait for my cert to come through then I can book myself in for cookers and gas.

Good on ya! I bet you are as proud as can be! I remember that day well. Have a beer on me!

Hi all, I'll be doing my ACS assessments in a few weeks now. Can anyone offer any advice or tips?

Don't go crazy with revision. 90% of my exams were from the British standards which you will be given. It's just a matter of knowing where to find the answers. However, do revise on gas rates and ventilation calculations etc..

Thanks for that. What type of stuff do you do in the work shop?
Carried out gas rates, identifying pipe faults, checking builders opening, flue flow and spillage test, visual signs of spillage, identifying faults with Chimney lining, check place picture etc, also did a mock gas cert and filling in relevant form..... Just from the top of my head......

Oh good thanks. That's what I've just done on the gas course so hopefully it will be fine. Are they lenient with anything or have you gotta be 100% with evrything

They're not looking to fail you. If there is something you've forgotten, they'll point you in the right direction.

Back to gas school tomorrow for 2 days then acs beginning of november all so i can get in the main gas forum...the things i do haha

Ahhh so 2 days done an not sure how i passed first time. Does anyone know a good site for explaining controls? Have 13 to identify for acs and i know a few but would like to learn them better.

show and double check your workings out :) its close

8m of 35mm @ 0.00084 pm
7m of 22mm @ 0.00032 pm
12m of 15mm @ 0.00014 pm

8 x 0.00084 = ?
7 x 0.00032 = ?
12 x 0.00014 = ?

total pipe work = ?

meter (u6) 0.008

total of meter and pipework = ?

+ 10% =

total instantiation = m3

total installation = m3

sorry about that bloody auto correct

are you including the meter in the 10%? as the tutor the other day said it was just on pipework and fittings then add the meter on

That's not how it's set out in the formula on the top of the page, and you still haven't supplied your workings out :)

ive worked it out as you say and I get this, which tbf isn't goin to make much difference and is also going the rite way aslong is doesn't exceed the maximum permisable volume per hour.

8m of 35mm @ 0.00084 pm
7m of 22mm @ 0.00032 pm
12m of 15mm @ 0.00014 pm

8 x 0.00084 = 0.00672 m3
7 x 0.00032 = 0.00224 m3
12 x 0.00014 = 0.00168 m3

total pipe work = 0.1072 m3

meter (u6) 0.008 m3

total of meter and pipework = 0.01864 m3

+ 10% =0.001864 m3

total instantiation = 0.020504 m3
